In July 2008, The flower bed at the bridgehead celebrated the Twinning Agreement.

August 2007
In July 2007, the first winner of the Newport-on-Tay Scholarship (awarded to the pupil showing great promise in the English Language) came to Newport for a month to study English at the Summer School held by Dundee College. Anton Slyvka proved to be a worthy winner and a great ambassador for Zolotarevo and Ukraine. He stayed with Sheila and Lindsay Johnston. A reception for Anton was held by the Community Council, when he was presented with a copy of the signed Twinning Agreement to take back to Zolotarevo. He continued his studies at University.
